Savannah is one of the world's premier tourist destinations, home to the largest urban National Historic Landmark district in the         country. Its stately squares and moss-draped oaks offer one of the most scenic and historic landscapes in America. We will visit         Savannah's Historic District with its 18th and 19th century buildings and the picturesque waterfront where cotton warehouses are now         restaurants, hotels and shops.
We will visit the oldest Black church in the U.S. Once part of the Underground Railroad. We will visit the Davenport House Museum.         This historic home marked the beginning of Savannah's historic preservation movement. Also a tour of the Cathedral of St. John the         Baptist built in 1873. No visit to Savannah would be complete without a visit to one of Paula Deen's restaurant. We will be dining at The         Lady & Sons Restaurant.

Also included will be a trip to historic Jekyll Island. In 1866, 53 prominent Jekyll Island Club members created an exclusive gilded era         island retreat for family and friends on Georgia's coast. These empire builders shaped our nation's future. Once a haven for the rich         and famous now everyone can enjoy the millionaires' row of Newport-style cottages that remain representing many of the architectural         styles that experienced a revival during the Victoria Era.

Also a trip to St Simons Island where moss covered oaks and ocean breezes weave past and present together as your guide narrates         delightful stories from the Prehistoric geologic beginnings of these barrier islands, through the Colonial Era, the Plantation Era, the Civil         War, the Timber Era up to the presnt day Resort Era. While in Savannah we will attend a music revue at the Savannah Theatre.

Our time in Charleston will include a guided tour of Charleston's Historic District. Also we will be visiting the Nathaniel Russell         Museum House. One of Charleston's premiere venues is Patriot's Point Naval and Maritime Museum. Patriot's Point features the USS         Yorktown (aircraft carrier), USS Laffey (destroyer) and USS Clamagore (submarine), a Vietnam era support base, and the U.S. Medal         of Honor Museum. We will also be visiting Fort Sumter where on April 12, 1861 Confederate forces fired on Union forces in Charleston         harbor, thus beginning the American Civil War. Charleston is well known for its many plantations. When you think of an antebellum         plantation, Boone Hall fits the bill. A plantation tour of Boone Hall is included in this tour.
